Alton Towers Resort: The world’s first giant haunted doll’s house

CURRENTLY SHORTLISTED FOR A NATIONAL CREATIVE MOMENT AWARD: ‘CREATIVE EXPERIENTIAL CAMPAIGN OF THE YEAR’.

Building drama ahead of the opening of the resort’s dark new attraction, Smoking Gun created the world’s first giant doll’s house pop-up to petrify the public. 

Park enthusiasts, fans, media and influencers gathered after dark to scour the house for supernatural clues and teasers, culminating in the first sighting of Emily Alton – the child whose demonic exploits inspired the ride.

As well as hundreds of media headlines and rave reviews, we took the client on a journey of digital ‘firsts’, including TikTok Duets and a bespoke Snapchat filter, reaching millions.

Interflora: Pollen station





We launched flower delivery giant Interflora’s ‘Alexa Skill’ (allowing customers to order flowers using only their voice), on the day of the most hotly contended General Election in decades, with a ‘Pollen Station’ stunt. 

Our floral take on the traditional polling station toured the landmarks of Westminster, before stopping to invite Londoners to try out the Skill for themselves on Amazon Echo devices tucked away inside our pollen booths. 

The PR stunt captured national media attention, became the talk of the week with Instagram influencers, generated stand-out multi-media content, and hit our ultimate objective – to drive brand reappraisal.

Virgin Holidays: Tunnel to Barbados

Virgin Holidays – Tunnel to Barbados - a Travel and Tourism PR Case Study

Smoking Gun created a 4D tunnel to Barbados to promote Virgin Holidays’ direct flight path – popping up in the heart of Manchester. Complete with the sounds and smells of the Caribbean, Manchester darling Michelle Keegan stepped into the world-first illusionary tunnel to bring the stunt to life.

The public were invited to interact with the illusion, picture sharing was facilitated via an immersive social media gallery. The disruptive PR stunt not only drove excitement on the ground but trended on social media and secured 20+ media stories.
