The Facebook-owned, image-focussed social network has long-since come of age. Home to more than 800million active users, 500million of which log in every day and the majority of whom are considered young or millennial, the huge engagement rate on high profile accounts has made it a huge hit with online marketers, with some of the biggest influencers in a position where their presence on the platform is enough to keep them fed, clothed, and touring the world or attending countless red carpet events.
As with anything digital and business-related, though, there’s a knack to success on Instagram. With this in mind we’ve drafted in two hugely successful users and asked them five questions each about getting the most out of the domain, in turn driving sales and boosting the overall presence of any brand.

1. How long have you been on Instagram?
I have been on Instagram for nearly 6 years.
2. Why did you first open an account?
I remember getting my first iPhone and a friend recommending the app to me, I always loved photography and I thought it would be a great way to share my London moments.
3. What do you primarily post about?
London (places to eat and visit, the pretty corners) and travel.
4. What would you say you have learnt from your experience posting in terms of what generates the most engagement?
A great photo, especially of something that might be of interest for people, and and an interesting caption that engages with the people reading it.
5. Finally, if you had to give any top tips for Instagram success, what would they be?
Consistency in the editing and posting good content, engage with the community- always reply back to comments and check out other photos posted under the same hashtags you use.

1. How long have you been on Instagram?
Started it around 2 years ago
2. Why did you first open an account?
In order to give our followers a visual introduction to our fashion business and post new deliveries to encourage visits to store
3. What do you primarily post about?
We mainly post pics of clothes that we stock, style inspo from others, quotes we engage with, some lifestyle stuff such as food, fitness, travel and a little bit of my personal and family life
4. What would you say you have learnt from your experience posting in terms of what generates the most engagement?
Our followers are real people who enjoyed being spoken to not marketed at. They are extended members of our family, we treat them as individuals and bend over backwards to accommodate their shopping requests. They love to see reality, behind the scenes shots and a glimpse of our very real but fun world
5. Finally, if you had to give two top tips for Instagram success, what would they be?
Firstly, don’t take forever filtering pictures or trying to find the right words. And, secondly, post whenever you feel inspired to, don’t get obsessed with scheduling, how your grid looks etc.
