The Intern's Insight…

Hi, My name’s Meabh and I’m Smoking Gun’s new intern for the year. I’m spending my third year at university here, on a Marketing Management Course at Manchester Metropolitan. I’ve officially been working at SGPR for a month, and loving it. I’ve fully adjusted to the 7am wakeup call, the team are really friendly and helpful and I’ve already had loads to do.
For my first month, I worked within the digital team, with Susie and Kineta. I helped manage the social profiles for a number of clients including Peanut Hottie, Holts Auto, Magnet Trade and salutotv. Within this, I learnt how to set up Twitter and Facebook ads, how to produce content plans, and general community management. I’ve really enjoyed producing content like Vines and quick little clips to share with the Peanut Hottie community who are really responsive to everything we do.
I’ve produced a number of blogs for clients such as Oven Pride, Silentnight and Peanut Hottie. All of which require a different tone of voice to the next. I enjoy writing blog posts, and it’s nice to see the community reacting to my posts.
Last week I went to Warrington Cats Protection to film behind-the-scenes clips of a shoot with former Hollyoaks star Carley Stenson to highlight how older cats are often being overlooked in favour of kittens. I enjoyed getting out of the office and seeing how shoots like this work.
After my first month, I’ve now moved upstairs and joined the PR team. I’ll be working with a selection of brand-new clients and I’m excited to learn more as I’ve never studied PR before in university.
I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far (and my first Smoking Gun BBQ!), and looking forward to the months to come.
Meabh
