It’s time for the first Ingenious Round Up of September, bringing you some unusual ideas and quirky inventions to take your mind off of the Christmas countdown.
You know when you’re just settling down on the sofa…but you’ve left the remote control on the other side of the room? Well, sigh no more because Room Tidying Pickup Robot (creatively named, I know) has your back. This remote controlled robot is fitted with six wheels and a cargo bed meaning you can navigate it to fetch objects; it’s infrared eyes can also help you seek and collect objects within a foot long.

Previous Ingenious Round Ups have touch on 3D printing, but what about 3D faxing? Technology startup AIO Robotics is planning to create an all-in-one 3D printer, scanner, copier and fax machine through a crowdfunding campaign. It’s just another step in ingenious 3D office equipment; I can’t wait to see what they do with the water cooler…
We all think we’re hilarious, but sometimes it’s good to have a bit of proof for when you’re reciting that witty remark and get stuck at ‘So I said…’. New watch ‘kapture’ keeps track of those moments for you by recording audio constantly throughout the day, but only saves the previous sixty seconds of what has been said when it is tapped, so you’ll seem like a font of ingenious remarks time after time.

Generation selfie and photography fans listen up, the 1888 hotel in Sydney is based around the famous Instagram app. Named after the year Kodak launched the first box and roll camera, this hotel features revolving murals of Instagram images, ‘selfie snap’ check ins and rooms that are decorated with guests’ Instagram snaps. Guests with 10,000 or more Instagram followers get a free night and photography competitions are regularly held to reward Instagram champions. Could this be the start of ingenious tourism?
