Instagram

This highly visual space is the fastest growing social media platform with 1 billion active monthly users.

It has seen huge growth through Instagram Stories and influencer marketing, especially with a younger demographic.

  • Landscape image: 1080 x 566
  • Portrait image: 1080 x 1350

  • Vertical video (minimum) 600 x 750
  • Maximum video length: 60 seconds

Facebook

With more than 2 billion active monthly users, Facebook remains the largest social media network. Over a quarter of the world’s population has an account to connect with friends and family and 1.3 billion of them are using Messenger to chat.

Leading the conversations in news, TV and memes, Twitter has 321 million users sharing 6,000 tweets per second.

It is predominantly text based but there has been a more visual shift in recent years, especially from brand profiles.

YouTube has 1.9 billion active monthly users in 88 countries. People are watching 150 million hours of video content on the channel per day, predominantly on mobile.

LinkedIn

Popular with business, networking and recruitment, LinkedIn has 303 million active monthly users. 90 million of these users are key decision makers in a business and 57% of people are male.

  • Maximum video length: 10 minutes

Pinterest

The go-to destination for interior design, travel, baking and wedding inspiration, Pinterest has 250 million users worldwide.

It has a heavily female user base (81%) and is predominantly accessed via a mobile device (80%).

The platform drives 5% of all referral traffic online and 87% of pinners have made a purchase.
