After being shortlisted in summer against four other Manchester-based agencies, Smoking Gun scooped the award for Best Small PR Agency at the MPA Awards last night.
The Manchester Publicity Association is the largest not-for-profit body in Europe, recognising people in media, film, creative and digital industries.
Hosted at the Midland Hotel, the evening kicked off with a drinks and chinwag reception, followed by a three course dinner, award ceremony and ended with a party into the early hours.
Winning the award for the second year running, Smoking Gun was commended for its continued approach to doing things differently.
MD, Rick Guttridge said; “This award is testimony to the team’s hard work. It’s their thinking, drive and commitment that makes us what we are.
“There’s been a lot of change in the agency this past year with new account wins taking us different places and new people hires that have expanded our skills and product offering.
“We continue to place importance on measurement and evaluation as this is so key to what we do.
“Looking towards 2018, we’re excited to see what comes and are very much setting our sights on growth both inside the agency and the comms industry.
The MPA award makes a hat trick for Smoking Gun in 2017, alongside a Gold and Bronze win at the AMEC Awards for; Most Effective B2B PR Campaign and Most Effective Consumer PR Campaign.
Next up is the CIPR Pride awards on 2nd November where the agency is shortlisted in five categories.
