May 2019 at Smoking Gun HQ

This month is best-known for incessant Bank Holidays— no less than three four day weeks. Nevertheless, with a presence at international industry summits, a wealth of award wins and a fantastic new client, there’s been no time for lie-ins.

Last Thursday night was a case in point. In Manchester we scooped Best B2C PR Campaign at the Prolific North awards.

The trophies didn’t end with this ceremony in our hometown, either.

The same evening, our CEO, Rick Guttridge, was in Prague. The Czech capital hosted this year’s AMEC Global Summit, and our man at the top took the stage as speaker.

All things analytical, algorithmic and augmented were discussed at the planet’s number one comms measurement event.

For the third consecutive year Smoking Gun got recognised again, this time with two major awards. Most effective planning, research and evaluation of consumer communications, and the Step Change prize for the most improved measurement journey.

And a couple of days earlier the same brand campaign was a finalist at the Sabre EMEAs at Battersea in London.

With such a reputation it’s no surprise Smoking Gun has been drafted in to handle public relations and social for Medichecks. The UK’s leading at-home consumer blood test company’s public-facing digital and real-world presence is now in our capable hands.

Our office also played host to some of the brightest minds in northern social media and digital marketing. Mid-month we invited innovators from Kellogs, Booths, Co-Op Food, Pet’s Choice and On The Beach to the latest Prolific North Roundtable, which looked at influencer marketing.

This was also the launch for our latest thought leadership document. Out of the Fyre, Into The Future: The New Influencer Marketing Age is available now as a free download.

We hit the airwaves with Michaela Strachan and My Family Pet UK, too. The idea was to talk the Big Flea Project, and the importance of protecting our furry friends.

Elsewhere, our search for a new Social Media Account Executive continues, with the lucky candidate set to join a team at the top of their game professionally and personally. Hence Caroline Gibson being crowned Queen of Darts 2019 after a recent, hard-fought tournament.

Ever the winners, we’ll be back with another update next month— if you want to be part of it get in touch to discuss how we can help your brand.
