Recently in the Smoking Gun study

With the year almost over, and only a few weeks left to buy those all important gifts for under the tree, it’s very nearly time for our annual round up of the highs and lows from the last 12 months. Before all that, though, here’s what’s been happening over the last four weeks.
First up, the big news is we walked away with some serious award wins at the CIPR PRide North West awards in recent weeks. Smoking Gun managed to bag Best Use of Social Media (Pride at Pride – Oven Pride), and Best Use of Photography (again for our Oven Pride work, this time linking President Trump to Hot Cross Buns for Easter). Top marks on both fronts, then.
We were particularly pleased though to be named top dog in the major award of the night, the Outstanding PR Consultancy, as It’s the toughest category to crack.
The success stories don’t end there, either. Our team has secured an additional role for Panda Liquorice, this time representing the brand on social media, while we also welcome Oddfellows to the fold; the UK’s oldest friendly society, with the mutual boasting over 300,000 members and 129 branches across the country. We’ll be supporting with a press Christmas membership campaign, adding yet another great name to the list of firms we partner with.
With Fudge the dog taking a break from every day life to spend a fortnight with us in the agency, the team has been besotted with this latest team addition. Every dog has his day and Fudge played a rather pleasing role in helping us land another major client but more of that later.
Elsewhere it has been another very busy time out of the office, too. Our staff have been present at GDPR conferences, learning about how new data protection laws will impact on all business sectors, not least our own. We also attended a webinar on Behavioural Economics, which regular readers of the blog will know is of real interest to us- nudge theory and all that.
Meanwhile, November has also involved the Prestone MSA British Rally Awards at the truly stunning Principal Hotel in Manchester, and our MD Rick Guttridge delivering a talk to students at the INTO college, and showed his face at the annual CIPR Inside Conference.
December’s started at breakneck speed with fantastic client projects underway, inventive plots being concocted for 2018 and a queue of firms from coast to coast knocking on our door asking for help in improving their firms’ trajectory via our ingenuous Comms programmes.
Don’t worry, though, we still found time to taste-test every British supermarket’s Christmas sandwich and decide on the best. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it… take a look at the results here, and then tell us you’re not feeling the festive spirit yet.
