A weekly roundup of media news, sans effort
Quote of the week
“We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams.“
Gene Wilder speaking the truth, as per usual, this time in Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. The screen legend died this week, aged 83. R.I.P.
Weekly high
Tesco, the UK’s biggest supermarket, has finalised its arrangements to roll out a new food programme that will see unsold items distributed to homeless people via local charity connections, rather than thrown away. Not a moment too soon, either, considering rough sleeping rates are rising, and last year alone Tesco chucked out 55,400 tonnes of grub.
Weekly low
Sir Philip Green has managed to pick up PR Week’s not-so-coveted Flop of the Month award. Not for his performance in front of the select committee as BHS collapsed, but for this clip which hasn’t done him any favours in terms of public perception. Massive, personal #PRFail.
