A plethora of impressive pet PR campaigns

Crufts
As all our clients, and most of our professional contacts know, staff at this Manchester public relations agency love creatures great and small. That’s the reason we’ve worked with firms like The Kennel Club, and helped launch Mysocialpetwork as well as throwing our weight behind the amazing work of Support Adoption For Pets.
Given this shared appreciation for feathered, scaly and furry friends, and animals of any other nature for that matter, we thought it would be appropriate (and fun) to put together a run down of some stand out work in this field. Without further ado then, we present a plethora of pet PR campaigns. And, yes, there are some cute dogs involved…
Pets Add Life
Pets Add Life’s remit is simple- promote the joy of responsible pet ownership and multiple pet ownership via social media. Videos like this managed to bag the PR Daily Award for Best Viral or Word of Mouth Campaign last year, and it’s not hard to see why 2.9million watched the YouTube series.

Keep Britain Tidy
Using the slogan ‘There’s No Such Thing As The Dog Poo Fairy’, Keep Britain Tidy did pet owners and everyone else a favour by promoting the safe disposal of unslightly deposits left by K9s. Despite the fact it’s likely to remain a perpetual problem there’s no denying this awareness push was visible on a national level.
Pet Fit Club
Animal charity PDSA is rightly concerned about the other side to Britain’s obesity problem, with some pets allowed to put on far too much weight. In a bid to help reduce the cases it holds an annual competition, with animals set on a weight-loss course and the most impressive performer being rewarded at the end of it all.

Four Paws PR Pet Blogger Awards
A well meaning in-house stunt, Australian agency Paws PR, which- as you may guess- specialises in pet related public relations and marketing, set up its own Pet Blogger Awards in 2013. The idea being to celebrate the best independent voices commenting on an industry currently worth $8billion Down Under.
#woofwagon
Part of a wider integrated campaign involving online and broadcast advertising, Volkswagen UK ended last yeat with a clear message to dog lovers, namely that their next choice of vehicle should probably be a VW. Whether you’re convinced or not the following clip will bring a smile to the face, and the hashtag took off.

Crufts Factor
Although it can be unbecoming to include in-house work, with a success story like this we couldn’t resist a reference. Taking in the the very best, and most talented K9s in Britain whilst driving awareness for Discover Dogs, London’s biggest dog show, The Kennel Club and Crufts, this video says more than we ever could.
