The third month of the year can often feel like a slog. The weather hasn’t escaped from winter’s chill properly, and when it does there’s weeks upon weeks of rain backed up just waiting to pour. Never ones to see a glass half empty, despite the occasional soaking, Spring bulbs are a sprouting along with more award wins, client arrivals, and staff additions all mean we’ve been kept distinctly upbeat of late.
Not least thanks to our recent victory in the PRMoment Awards. Earlier this month Smoking Gun walked away with two of the most coveted trophies, stealing (well, not literally) the hotly contested Best Consumer PR Agency title from our competition, along with Best Event, which marks another major accolade for our Tunnel To Barbados stunt used to promote Virgin Holidays.
We’ve also just picked up another chance of victory, this time in the Prolific North Awards. After our success in 2014 we’re again up for Small PR Agency of the Year, meaning this is our chance to once again retain the title for the finest- not to mention most ingenious- firm in the region with less than 20 employees.
The good news doesn’t stop there, either. After achieving great things for clients such as Support Adoption For Pets, The Kennel Club (the folk behind legendary dog show, Crufts), Discover Dogs and- in the past- My Social Petwork, we’re bolstering our pet PR profile further by welcoming Cat’s Protection to our family of brands. The company has employed us to act as press office, and we can’t wait to get to work furthering the cause for felines everywhere.
We’ve also welcomed another top notch addition to the team. Sarah Twyman joins us as Associate Director, boasting plenty of agency experience in food, drink, travel and retail, gained from time working in London and most recently at a global agency.
All of which just about rounds up a particularly fast-moving month here on Bridge Street, except to say that our copywriter, Martin Hewitt, was awarded runner up in the ‘City’ category at the Holland Press Awards for a travel feature he put together following one of his journalistic adventures. Competing against some 10,000 articles written about the European nation in 2014, from broadsheets to blogs, it’s further evidence of how strong our interdisciplinary skills are. So, with the sun finally heating Manchester up as spring sets in, perhaps its time for us to make the most of that roof terrace with a glass of prosecco, before getting back to what we do best, of course.
