June 2015 in the Smoking Gun Study

Well that’s another fine month we’ve reached the end of. From new clients in sectors such as media buying and finance, to welcoming our new intern and receiving another major industry nomination, here’s everything you need to know about the last four weeks on Bridge Street.
Firstly, we’re over the moon to have received an extended brief from car and maintenance giant Holt Lloyd International. Smoking Gun has already been responsible for consumer and trade press, social media, and experiential marketing for the last six months on a project-basis, and will now continue with more fine work on a retained contract, looking after brands including Holts, Prestone and Redex.
Elsewhere, our team have begun working for Saluto TV, a firm with a genuinely unique offering for those looking to broadcast themselves. In keeping with the idea that everyone will get 15-minutes of fame in their lifetime, the company allows anyone to purchase a commercial slot on a range of channels, at a time of day to suit them, without committing to a contract; perfect if you have a message that needs to be heard.
Those aren’t the only additions to the SGPR fold, either. Following the success of Georgia Robson, who is now a full-time employee with us, we’ve taken on another year-long intern, Meabh Creahan, a student from Manchester Metropolitan University who is in the midst of a Marketing Management undergraduate degree. Further evidence of how seriously we take the role of an agency when it comes to training and developing the next generation of industry stars.
Aside from all that the Manchester Publicity Association (MPA) has also seen fit to bestow on us a nomination in its Collaboration Award category for our work for Magnet Trade, undertaken alongside Refinery and Door 4. The ceremony will be held at Gorton Monastery in October. Competition is going to be fierce, and just receiving a nod is reason enough to celebrate.
Nevertheless, though, we can’t help but keep our fingers crossed. Meanwhile, we’re also waiting with baited breath for the release of Prolific North’s Top 50 PR agencies list, which is unveiled tomorrow, and represents the most comprehensive and professional analysis of the region’s public relations scene, which we’re hoping to do well in. Plenty to be looking forward to then, until next time, godspeed, and if you’re heading to Manchester International Festival don’t forget to let us know- we’ll be there with bells on.
