January 2016 in the Smoking Gun study

cat_1.html copy
Talk about hitting the ground running. We’re only a month into the start of this year and already it feels like so much work has been done, and so many great results achieved. One in the eye for those who believe momentum should be gathered over time.
Whilst the financial year still has a while to go before it ends, we’re firmly invested in the concept of a new training budget for every new calendar and relentlessly push our colleagues to better themselves. Hence the reason our digital team have been honing their skills further through workshops, ensuring they’re more than prepared to meet the demands of the future, despite the fact we’re still on today.
Elsewhere, Smoking Gun PR has been ploughing funds into new videography kits, expanding on our ability to offer clients the best visuals to accompany their campaigns. Keep your eyes peeled on our blogs and future newsletters for examples of exactly what we can achieve in this crucial area of online marketing.
It’s not been the quietest time for clients joining our books, either, and all the better for it. We’re putting our expertise to good use with the Directors Online Network, the UK’s largest online business network that connects companies with key directors and leaders in a variety of fields, helping form new relationships- something we’ve got plenty of background in.
Meanwhile, Forever Unique has added to our portfolio of fashion labels. This growing Manchester brand is selling its wares internationally, and we’re determined to help build its reach and sales with our tireless toils. A host of stellar national media coverage and link building hasn’t been a bad way to kick off the year. Needless to say, we expect you’ll be hearing a lot more about these guys as the months begin to roll by.
We’re also looking forward to our role as Event Partner at the inaugural Prolific North Live event next Tuesday, 2nd February, at The Point. Register in advance for free tickets or risk missing out on a fabulous day of learnings, networking, and of course the chance to visit our stand. Check out the full schedule here.
And, finally, two members of our team have received significant nods from their peers. The big bossman Rick Guttridge will be judging the prestigious PR Moment Awards for the south of England region, poring over the best work in the business to bestow accolades on those most deserving. Whereas Martin Hewitt, our copywriter, is in the running for a title at the Visit Holland Travel Awards after coming runner up last year in the ‘City’ category, with a feature on cheese and food in the Netherlands beating thousands of entries to make 2016’s final shortlist. Not a bad way to begin, to say the least, it’s any wonder we’ve found time to eat or sleep since returning from our well-deserved Christmas break.
