At Smoking Gun, we’re always on the look out for truly exciting and innovative social media campaigns, apps or just brilliant content. SanPellegrino Fruit Beverages has delivered all three with it’s latest Facebook app – “Three minutes in Italy???.
Designed for the US page, this app gives SanPellegrino’s fans a remote feel for Italy, using some very clever technology.

The app offers fans of the page two experiences. First and probably my personal favourite, uses a pair of amazing ground based robots (Limonatabot & Rossabot). These robots are controlled from your computer and allow you to tour Taormina in Sicily. You also get your own guide who will – if you have a webcam and microphone – interact with you and try and teach you some Italian phrases.
 

The second experience on the “Three minutes in Italy??? is through a Skybot, which allows users to see the stunning views of Sicily from up high!
As the name of the app suggests, you have a three minute time limit and it does go quite quickly! This is a fun experience and everyone in Smoking Gun towers enjoyed the brief tour of the town and a few even attempted to learn Italian from our guide – “Bonjourno???!
