A weekly roundup of media news, sans effort
Quote of the week
“There’s something delightfully sociopathic about making a sausage roll look like a pig”
@zarteftw commenting on Twitter during the final of The Great British Bake Off, wherein Candice Brown was crowned champion and Paul Hollywood told her ‘you’ve ticked all the boxes and then some’. Congrats!
Weekly high
On Wednesday this week, female workers in Iceland (that’s the country, not the frozen food giant) left work at 2.38PM, earlier in the day compared with male counterparts, in a bid to highlight the disparity between pay for men and women (which, in the Nordic nation, is on average between 14 and 18%). Now this is how you grab the media’s attention.
Weekly low
Morrison’s has decided to bite the proverbial bullet and potentially paint itself all sorts of bad guy shades this week, with a 12.5% price hike on jars of Marmite following Unilever’s price spat with Tesco in the wake of Brexit. Morrison’s is likely to be unaffected for the most part, but this is really bad news.

Just in case you missed us
As the weather is really starting to creep in again (clocks change this weekend, peeps!), one of our favourite brands, Holts, has launched a campaign encouraging people to make sure their tyres are up to task, and we have been thinking about some of the best road safety adverts from over the years.
