Weekly Low

Last week we fell in love with the Goldieblox advert promoting engineering toys to young girls. This week the firm has undone all that good work, in our eyes at least. The ad in question featured a reworked version of Girls by Beastie Boys. The outfit are well known for refusing to have their tracks used in commercials. They asked the company why they had used the tune without permission. Goldieblox filed a pre-emptive lawsuit against Beastie Boys. A huge misjudgement, thankfully the case has been dropped and an apology issued to the band.

Things that may happen in the next week

Paranoia could escalate following China’s decision to declare a defensive airspace zone in skies above already-disputed islands currently under Japan’s administration, with South Korea and the U.S. flying jets irrespectively in a provocative move. The Netherlands will begin adapting to its new AA+ credit rating after losing its status as one of only three Eurozone members left with a top credit score. December starts on Sunday, bringing with it the mania of advent.
