A weekly roundup of media news and talking points, sans effort
Thought for the Week
“I think it is important to study all the holy books… As my friend Yaman always tells me, a good Muslim is a good Jew, and a good Jew is a good Christian, and so forth. I couldn’t agree more.” Madonna discussing her recently publicised interest in the Koran, which she is currently reading. An announcement that’s definitely (probably) not simply to grab a few column inches.
Weekly High
Whilst we’re a little sceptical about the forthcoming remake of Carrie– that classic 70s horror based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name- we’re well up for staging a telekinetic episode inside a coffee shop. Take a look below at how marketers for the movie unleashed a gifted but potentially very dangerous girl on unsuspecting customers waiting for a drink.
Weekly Low
The media can be stressful, but it’s vital to remember manners even when the pressure is on. This video shows how not to do that- captured at the Toronto Film Festival, it shows ID PR’s Bryna Rifkin, publicist responsible for stars such as Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, and Michelle Rodriguez, being rather rude to a journalist who asked for an interview with Oscar winner Marion Cotillard. Let’s hope it was just a bad day. #someoneisalwayswatching

Things that may happen in the next week
Shareholders at 20th Century Fox may vote against the re-election of Rupert Murdoch as Chairman next Friday (18th October) following recommendations made by proxy advisory group ISS. Preparations will begin for a review into intelligence agency failings in the wake of Edward Snowdon-gate. Hotshot producer John Palermo may, or may not apologise over a racist comment made on Twitter regarding Kanye West, which follows a series of social slurs that could be construed as bigoted in one way or another.
