April 2015 in the Smoking Gun study

The distinct absence of those traditional showers, plenty of warm days, three new members of staff, a fresh addition to the client list, and a couple of major national award nominations have all defined the last four weeks. Allow us to divulge.
Without further ado then… We’re delighted to announce the news that Smoking Gun PR is one of six public relations firms across the country to be shortlisted for the coveted UK wide CIPR Best Small Agency title. The awards event will take place in London on 3rd June, with our place in the running indicative of how successful the last few years of our business have been.
Further proof of the success of our digital-first approach to PR comes in being shortlisted in the Big Chip Awards for Best Content Marketing for our work with the Silentnight Sleep Clinic, which has already won award recognition. Read more about the work here.
On top of that, we’ve also welcomed a new fashion brand to our ever-growing fold. Claudio Lugli, a family-owned Italian label known for its striking prints, has employed our highly skilled team to take over its press office. The campaign began with two successful product placements on the Channel 4 show, Chatty Man, hosted by Alan Carr, ensuring millions had the opportunity to see the company’s wares on one of the most high profile network programmes.
Talk about starting as you mean to go on.
Needless to say, with so much growth and so many opportunities coming our way it’s essential to keep growing the staff base, and as such the fact our skill set has been further bolstered should come as no surprise. Introducing Emma Lowe, our new Media Manager, who epitomises the way in which we’re keen to take on talent from across the industry spectrum. A former Daily Mail staff writer who has also worked on a number of other major titles, she’s a deft hand at storytelling- an integral part of what we do.
Joining Emma we also have Cara Churchman, our latest Senior Account Executive. Boasting a background in PR, wherein she specialised in consumer technology, her experience and expertise will prove invaluable. And the same can be said for Cara Cunningham, the third new face to join in recent weeks, who represents another master of spinning yarns, arriving fresh from time spent with one of the country’s leading publishing groups, Newsquest. All in all big changes then, and positive ones at that, meaning it’s not without very good reason that we’re ending April with a toast to our exciting future.
