April 2014 in the Smoking Gun PR study

Our news

In somewhat seasonal fashion, spring and change have been in the air of late, with a string of highly successful campaigns dominating the British media over the last bank holiday and an imminent change of address for this Manchester-based PR agency.
After two happy years here on Quay Street, thanks to our burgeoning client roster and the subsequent need to expand and add to the team, Smoking Gun has outgrown its current home. As such, from 1st May we will relocate to a brand new office at 3rd Floor, 64 Bridge Street, Manchester, which has been lovingly glammed up to our own specifications ahead of our ingenious staff members arriving.
Needless to say, such growth does not come without hard graft, and the past month has provided two examples of exactly how well our formula for delivering innovative, creative public relations and marketing solutions works. Firstly, we’re delighted with what was achieved for the Paint By Conran launch, with an exclusive in the Sunday Times Style magazine and a cover spash on The Times Bricks and Mortar amongst the national hits.
Persil Washing Up Liquid’s Cook With The Kids initiative has also proven to be a staggering success. 56 pieces of coverage were generated over two months, with thousands of parents called to take action and get in the kitchen with their children, irrespective of the mess they may make, and the added lure of a kids food fight event held in London. Meanwhile, Silentnight enjoyed a lucrative Easter weekend, with eight national hits during this key period for homes and interiors firms, not to mention a 53% year-on-year increase in organic web traffic. All in a (few) days work, of course.
Add to all that our attendance at the recent CIPR Insights and Evaluation training event, the time we spent hanging out with Olympic gold medallists and our efforts on behalf of Kumho Tyres, not to mention the 123,745,921 total opportunities to see our client roster created within a month, and it’s not surprising we’ve barely had time to catch our breath. Still, it’s always better to be busy, and with that in mind we should leave it there- after all, we’ve got some furniture to shift and all those award certificates to hang in the new HQ.
